Ryde Recording Studio has a long-standing relationship with Australia’s longest running science podcast, The Skeptic Zone. Originally broadcast on Internet Radio Station www.Net.FM and called ‘The Skeptic Tank’, the show was hosted by Richard Saunders, now famous for his role as the Skeptical Judge on Channel 7’s ‘The One’ and Stefan Sojka, producer at Ryde Recording Studio and Creative Director of Cyrius Media Group.
As the popularity of podcasting took off, and Apple’s iTunes became almost ubiquitous with the medium, ‘The Skeptic Tank’ transformed into ‘The Skeptic Zone’ and now boasts a strong regular following of many thousands of listeners from all around the world. Over the last few years, guests have included such luminaries as Tim Minchin, Phil Plait, James Randi, Dr Karl, Stephen Fry, Dick Smith and many other of Science’s biggest names.
Ryde Recording Studio is proud to have composed and produced the theme music for the show, as well as the theme music for many of the segments, including, ‘Grain of Salt’, ‘The Think Tank’ and ‘Reality Bites’.
The beginning of 2012 saw a new addition to the Skeptic Zone team, Penny Chan from Long Beach, California. Penny has her own segment, called ‘A Penny for Your Thoughts’, so Stefan was asked to record another theme song. With plenty of tongue in cheek and a bit of video trickery, Stefan and Richard put a video together of ‘The Making of a Theme Tune’ which can be found here: http://youtu.be/EHhqnE9_SNI – Being from LA, a Doors theme was on the cards, complete with Jim Morrison antics. No one was harmed during the filming of this video!
The Skeptic Zone is often recorded at Ryde Recording Studio, when not being done on location. Stefan also records numerous humorous sketches and skits for the show.
2012 is shaping up to be another great year for the Skeptic Zone podcast and Ryde Recording Studio is proud to have been involved right from the very beginning.
